Hello (:

thank you everyone for making this afternoon a really memorable one! Special mention goes to the sec3s (: The amount of effort put into this is simply HUMONGOUS and we really appreciated the whole thing. The farewell was thoroughly enjoyable, with loads of interesting and innovative ideas. The pretty stars on the pillar, photos and sweets on the ledge, envelopes on ribbon tied to the barre, hersheys hanging down, balloons filled with sweets, the red carpet, dramamama music, hilarious emcees, delicious food, touching montage, lovely gifts and notes all carried out in a star awards fashion.

Yeah it was supposed to be a sad thing, but all the surprises just kept us high! It's really sad to think that dance night is over ): and we're old sec4s who are about to leave nanyang. We'll come back to visit anyway (: next year's SYF! All of you must jiayou!

Once again, thank you to all for your lovely effort which has left us really touched(: we'll never forget that!

Dear all,

I shall update this by blogging (:
Surreal and sudden as it seems, 绽放的花季 is over. A night to remember for all, both performers and audience. I must say our hardwork has paid off (: these many months that were really not all that smooth sailing but hey, we made it anyway! all the late night and not to mention early morning practices. I'm sure all of you never regret any of this. Pretty amazing really, coming to think that we take 7 months for a single dance, and just 8 months for this concert. I'm sure our togetherness and heart work managed to touched the audience.

Seriously, this concert has brought us all together, closer than ever (: I'm sure to all NYCD-ers, NYCD will always be like a special family.

this is to inform the seniors that rehearsals timings from the 10-12th December will be different from the usual schedule. On the 10th (Monday), rehearsals will be from 1730-1830. And on the 12th (Wednesday), we will lian gong from 9-1045. Rehearsals will be from 1045 - 1245 and then 1345 - 1645. 1245 - 1345 is a lunch break. Seniors, you all can choose if you would like to order the catered food with us or go out and eat. For xiao xinying's batch, please inform her if you are ordering the catered food if you have not done so and same for Shu Hui's batch and Yen Ngee's batch. Thank you! (:

Hello seniors, batchmates, juniors!

I think some of you may have heard about NYCD's plans for the Year 2008. So here are some updates, some clarifications, and some requests targetted at different groups.

So firstly to update the seniors,
we are planning to go to Barcelona, Spain for a dance competition (Barcelona Dance Award) and we will use FENG WU YI REN as our competition piece.

We will be preparing another dance to perform for showcase. As for the dance that we are dancing, it is unconfirmed as of yet.

We estimate it to cost around SGD$2500 for each person, and we are going to raise funds by selling cocoa trees chocolate, bakgua during Chinese new year, and a series of fundraising events in school such as sales of bubble tea etc. The fundraising efforts will be continuous to raise funds to subsidise the dancers who may need it, and also, dance night.

We will also be scouting for performance opportunities that will pay as one of the fundraising efforts. Laoshi did mention using qianhong, and we may need the help of Sec 4'07 seniors to perform qianhong to external organizations if they are willing to:D

If anyone has any idea whom we can approach for sponsorships, or can provide any form of aid (financial, literal, design etc), please inform any present nycd-er!

Second point:
We are proposing to the school management, to hold dance night at Esplanade in the Year 2008. I.e. we will be having 2 major events next year, namely the competition, and the dance night. We estimate the production costs to be rather high, which explains why we will be embarking on fundraising soon!

However, our grand plans are still pending approval from the school management.

So pray hard!!(:
We will be needing a lot of help from the alumni with your experience!

Third point:
To the juniors, we have heard feedback regarding Spain and esplanade.

Just a few words to sum up the discussions that some of us have had. I would like to take this chance to remind you all to step up. For you all will soon not be juniors, but seniors that are taking over.

Do volunteer your services and be dedicated to the CCA, and take the initiative- it will not only benefit NYCD as a whole, but you will grow and develop as a leader as well.

For those not selected to go to Spain either because of your age, or other factors, please do not feel left out. Sure indeed, I understand your feelings, but sometimes we do have to think of the big picture and not make hasty decisions by just considering your personal point of view.

As an example (so sorry for my longwindedness), I may not be able to make it for Dance night, but I am not objecting against having it at Esplanade this year. These are things that you will continue to encounter throughout your four years in nanyang and in nycd- not everybody will be able to perform for every single performance.

Simply put, love chinese dance, and love NYCD with all your heart. I believe that then, we will always be able to make the best decisions for the dance society.(:

Haha. I don't know how many juniors actually know of/ read this blog. But oh well, I just want to say that today's farewell party was definitely a blast and I enjoyed every single moment of it(:. I really never expected everything to be so grand and all, be it welcoming us into the studio with those hua huans,(Haha. Erhmm. Blissful memories of 90th anniversary!), the crepe paper ribbons that lined the railings of the staircases and bars, or those nice double balloon thingies. They definitely did great to hype up the whole atmosphere. Heehee :D

So¡­ THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT EFFORT!! Thank you for those hand sewn pouches, the home-made cookies, the compilation of our syf pictures, the lovely "key chains", the unique envelopes But most importantly, thank you for all the smiles on your faces:D

Its definitely sad to be leaving NYCD. It never really occurred to me that we'll actually be saying our farewells, till I saw the message, "舞蹈学会的门会永远为你们开着" haha well. Then this large big door suddenly popped into my head and I saw my self walking out of the dance studio. YES I KNOW. Im supposed to walk INTO it right.. haha. Bless my imagination. But yea¡­ it suddenly came to me that I would soon be leaving countless of people that I held dear, as well as the place which I can call my refuge..

CCA was probably one of my greatest motivations to come to school, because of laoshi, my dance mates and juniors. I mean, how can someone want to come to school to do work and sias! So I guess, cca was like an incentive, for all those long dreary lessons that we had to endure. These 4 years in Nanyang were so meaningful and worthwhile because of NYCD, because of the strong bonds forged between all of us as we go through together, one dance after the next. They all held sweet memories. Definitely.

NYCD was like our connection, the place where we got to know one another. Leaving it is like¡­ leaving so many things behind!! Ahhhh...It felt as if part of my life has just been torn away from me. Sigh.. But nevertheless for these 4 years of memories, I must thank everyone, especially laoshi for giving me so many opportunities to pursue my passion for dance, allowing me to constantly challenge my limits. I bet lots of juniors will never believe me if I said that I couldn't even do a split when I was in sec one and that I danced like some ape. Of course, without the hairs lah! Haha. But yah. Im serious! I think anyone from my batch can testify. Heehee.I didn't have any dance background, so it was really thanks to laoshi's constant encouragements to "跟你们的学姐学习" and ofcourse all those motivation from the seniors too. Hmmm yah. JIAYOU JUNIORS:D.

To end off, I would like to say a really really big THANK YOU to all my darling juniors once again! I was really touched. Sorry I didn't manage to write to everyone, and to those I have written to, I didn't get a chance to thank you guys for this. Since, I wrote the letters before the farewell.. so yes. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! I love you guys!!<3 Im starting to miss you all already! >.<

Hello dearies~
I realise that this is the first time I'm blogging at NYCD blog and I feel so bad that I didn't even do this during my days in Nanyang.(At least I don't remember doing so..)But the thing is I have things to say to you all...AGAIN, haha so I thought I'll do it through a different way this time:D Alright here goes...

I remember two years ago, once during my SYF, laoshi asked the seniors who came back to visit, if they were proud of being a NYdancer when they watched us dance. And I thought if I were asked this question today, I'll say that I'm more than just proud to be a NYdancer, I'm honoured. It must have been the most fortunate thing that happened to me so far because it was in Nanyang that I first fell in love. This love groomed and brought me up over the period of four years. Those were great times with great people and a awesomely great teacher. Sometimes I wonder if those days were just part of a beautiful dream, where everything is so delightful, simple and carefree.

Although I went back to watch you all quite a few times, I really regret not being there on the actual day, maybe to help you all with some makeup or to offer a little hug or some kind of support. I was thinking that if I was there in the audience, I would be blown away by your performance.

I just watched the SYF DVD the day before and as much as I know that the videography was bad, I was still drawn to your lovely dancing. I may not know all of you and I might not even be very close to those I know, but the fact that I'm a Nanyang dancer and you're a Nanyang dancer bonds us together in a way that even fate cannot explain. In other words, I love Nanyang dancers. When you dance, you impress all. And that's where you earn your respect and admiration. I know it's not easy, considering how much effort was put in to get there, but there's no easier road and there's no other way you would have wanted it either.

Some of you might be disappointed that Nanyang didn't get into Opening or Closing this year. I admit that I am. But I'm not disappointed in you all, if any of you silly doofball is thinking that way. I'm just sad that I can't get to watch you all live and pity for the so many more out there who will appreciate your dancing.

Dearies, I want you all to know that in my eyes, you all shine and you leave your audience breathless after every performance you deliver.

Thank you for living up to all of our almighty high expectations. Thank you for keeping laoshi happy all these while. Thank you for being the dancers that you are. And I'm proud to say that you all did well in carrying on the Nanyang legacy.

I'm very sorry about the many misunderstandings today. Sorry seniors and juniors about the food! I think they are basically due to the miscommunications we had. So let's learn from our mistakes together and gel as a society together! We shall make sure that the next party is better :D
Juniors please don't be afraid of us! We are nice (: So yah i really hope we all can bond together. Moreover, we are having a concert next year! So do practice hard! Be grateful about having a dance. You may not like this dance THAT much but it is still and opportunity for you to grow as a dancer. I'm sure you all would learn a lot through this dance! Do make use of the time during cca wisely. And of course listen to your leaders! Don't make them have a tough time getting you all to practice together (: Just put yourself in their position. You wouldn't want that right? Anyway yah so don't just stay in your cliques! Practice together. Perhaps you all could like take turns to watch each other dance and give constructive criticism. JIA YOU JUNIORS!!!

Hello everyone!

I think i ought to thank many many people!
Firstly i must thank laoshi!!!
haha for giving so much of her time and effort! you could see that sometimes she's really tired yet she pushes on for everyone! like especially the last few weeks you could really see the eye bags and everything...and she skips meetings and everything for us too! and you know she does all these...and it's like mo4 mo4 gong4 xian4 because a lot of teachers would just think like oh maybe she's slacking since she always does not appear for most of the meetings. actually i have a lot more to write but i shall try to keep this short because i just came back...
Next is the seniors! To those who has left nanyang; thanks a lot for all the well wishes and thanks for always coming back to visit us (: we really appreciated it! oh and for those chocolates too! i can't believe Rachel actually flew back and took leave from school for 2 weeks!
okay for the sec4s, a big thank you for always providing feedback and encouragements! Especially becca and anna! You all are so helpful (: really! Thanks for helping to kou! and becca thanks for like coming along to arab street (: and for those sweets and marshmallows! and the exco for helping so much especially on the day itself. yup so to all seniors, thank you!
Then to batch mates. Thanks for the encouragements and feedback on the dance too! and for helping me kou too! and lianghui for her BIG brownie, bianca for her lollies, sheena for her sweets, liwen for her barbie thing and everyone else for the well wishes! haha i really love nydancers and laoshi!
and last but not least the juniors who have been so kind to help sew and make those beads! thanks okay! oh plus those notes and the cheers on monday! really thoughtful of you all!!
oh and still there's the teachers! the whole aesthetic dept! esp. Mrs Teo! who was like always visiting us, encouraging us! plus like other teachers (even those not in NY like yang laoshi and su laoshi) for the well wishes. plus lianghui's mom! for rushing down to watch and also for buying you know what :D haha

Hello everyone. Dance camp has just ended and representing the committee'07, we hope you all had fun at the camp.

Here, we would like to thank our seniors for your utmost support. It really means alot to us, keeping us moving and striving for the better. Thank you for giving us moral support. Special thanks to Shisi for the earrings!

Also, thank you sec 1s and 2s juniors for helping us with the beads and everything. Without you all, our dance will not be as complete as it is now. Without you all, we will also not shine on stage as much. We all know you all have been working very hard! Do make sure that you all take care of yourselves and continue to work hard by improving on different areas of dance. Do keep in mind that you all are the next batch taking part in syf 2009!

And to all the syf dancers. We have all been practising hard under laoshi's guidance. She is trying her best and we should not let all the people who support us down. It may be mentally and physically challenging but we are doing this together! Continue to coorperate with the leaders too! It's not easy for so few people to take care of all of us!

Chalet Rental.

Hello everyone, it has been a few months since chalet but not all have handed in the full payment of rental.

Please take note that the rental for the first night will be $21 and for both nights it will be $50.40.

Please hand all chalet rental fees to Hern Hern of 314 latest by Tuesday, 27 February.

As for seniors...i'll ask naomi for you all! Because naomi's dad is rather unhappy that the full sum hasn't been returned even after chinese new year, apparently. So please try to give the money to me latest by Tuesday, and seniors to naomi latest by friday(her dad gave her that deadline)!

hellohello!

surprise! it's been ages since i've been here and i'm so ancient already the sec 1s and 2s won't even know who i am (if they read this site in the first place) but ahh what the heck.

anyway, i just wanted to drop by to say HI! and of course to say that i miss nycd a lot! and that i miss my batchmates very much! and i hope the j1s are doing well in their new jcs and having the time of their lives! and can somebody(s) please go back and visit with me one day after common tests because i miss the school and the dance studio a lot and i think i haven't been back since last year! (i wonder how's the new principal like too hm.) and has anyone gone to bai nian with laoshi? :)

Hoho, life is hard. What with the different commitments we all have, school, council/psl/leadership positions, relationships, academics, cca and whatnot.

It's rather late in the night and i want to sleep hehe (thus i can't speak coherently).

but take a break, don't push yourself too hard. Don't deplete the fuel so quickly.

Keep the passion burning.

For those of you who feel that your passion is dwindling, rest well, think positive.

Rekindle your flame of passion.

As for the cost, it is rather difficult for us to give you the exact amount required now as it is determined by the number of people attending(so please do confirm your attendance asap!), but those attending the Pizza Party should not exceed $6. =)

Those staying over please bring sufficient money just in case!i.e 25-30 dollars=)

to the sec4s! i can't believe we're leaving nanyang and nydance in a matter of months' time. ALL OF YOU HAVE BEEN GREAT BATCHMATES! we might not be the best seniors or the best dancers, but we have certainly put in our best effort in everything that we do. no matter whether you're irritating like huitian and minzhi (LOL) or quiet and nice like xiaowen and jess, I LOVE ALL OF YOU! we might be leaving nydance physically, but i am sure we will still be with them spiritually!

to the new exco! the fact that all four of you have been elected into exco this time round proves that the rest of the dancers believe in your ability to lead dance for the next one year. there might be times when you feel insecure, but no matter what happens, just remember that there is always a group of dancers behind you, giving you their full support. obstacles lie ahead but you will just have to garner all your strength, do a 180 degrees ti tui, kick these obstacles to the esplanade audience seats and make them watch nycd dance on the esplanade stage once again. JIAYOU AND ALL THE WAY! oh ya! remember to take care of laoshi HOR!

to the rest of the juniors! all of you have been wonderful juniors! thank you for all the stuff that you all have done for us! we're really touched! next year's syf will be a challenging one with all the stiff competition around. but i am sure that as long as all of you put your heart into dance, nycd will shine on stage during syf. things might not go well at times but just remember, dance is never easy, but dance will also never give up on you unless you give up on it. so JIAYOU JIAYOU JIAYOU x1000000!!!! I LOVE ALL OF YOU!!! =D

okay, to end off.. treasure all the time you have in dance k! because before you know it, YOU WILL BE LIKE US. leaving with the utmost reluctance. but no matter what, your seniors will always be with you 24/7 (it means 24hours a day, 7 days a week). you can come find us if you have any problems! Now that the sec fours are out, only 3 levels are left. I've just typed an entire entry on my own blog so i'm really ): to do another entry here. All i want to say is that i'm proud that the sec 4s'06 have written their own beautiful memories down in dance society, and i hope you can too. Soon, all of you will face a crucial period, the SYF, and i hope that you all can share this with laoshi. The external stress is making her worried because everyone expects a gold with honours with us. Please do look after her and make things easy. Listen to your exco, work hard, work well, love dance with a passion and be disciplined, and i'm sure you all can have a more effective year ahead.

today's sec4 farewell was really a success.thank you juniors for everthing you've done for us.we really appreciate it.

juz wanna tell the sec4s this: we are like the fallen leaves of a tree.we once belonged to the tree but now we aren't anymore.even so,we should be proud of ourselves for being part of the tree before,contributing whatever we can to the tree in order for it to grow healthily.now that we aren't part of the tree anymore,we become the fertilisers of the trees and contribute further to it.and now we're part of it forever.we muz continue to contribute to nycd and rmb what nycd had done to our lives.

it's also a msg for the juniors.bear in mind that yall are nycd's future and yall muz do whatever u can do let it shine.and when it shines, u'll shine together with it and be proud of it.

i never thought i'll get to see flowers bloom in my life, but i did.
i never thought i'd see seasons change indoors, but i did.
i never thought i'd see something so beautiful, but i did.

the only reason why i didn't tear was cuz i was so busy choking and trying to take in all the beauty of seeing flowers glide on stage among the snow, not taking my eyes off the stage, not even once.

my darling dancers, words cannot describe how i exactly feel. Surprised (pleasantly) and flooded with pride, making me so proud to have been a chinese dancer, in particular, a Nanyang chinese dancer.

to the sec fours: leaving is difficult. but just remember that you're actually not really leaving. no one has actually stopped being a Nanyang chinese dancer, you always will be one. to xinying, i know what u've been through, maybe not totally, but some way or another. it's hard. we all know. but all good things come to an end, something that no matter how we refuse to admit, it really does. Be proud that you have been part of something so so wonderful that only us, NYCDancers have experienced. I'd really like to implore all of u to stay together as a whole, forever and always.

to the new exco: i'm proud to say that there are much excitement awaiting you in the year to come. Embrace yourselves, it'll be quite a ride leading such a big bunch of dancers, but be confident. it may be shaky starting out with little guidance from ur seniors, but trust yourselves in making decisions. it's always alright to fall, what's most important is to pick yourself up and learn how to continue with grace. when in doubt, always ask. i'm sure any one of the dance seniors will gladly offer help (=

dancers, unite. together, we'll make a difference. we always did <3

this isn't a stop. it's a sign for us to move on to greater heights. keep ur passion for dance alive, always.

I have so much to say. But I just don't know where to begin. I joined NYCD only not long ago yet never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd come to love it so.

Frankly, it was a tough choice to make last year when I had to choose between going away to summer school and staying on for SYF practice. To be honest, my passion for dancing tarted to fade after R Gym closed. So I chose to go away and give up participation in SYF. Looking back, I cant say that I regret going but I can't say that I don't regret not staying on either. I knew SYF was a big thing, just didn't realise how big it really was. Then when things started heating up and practices revolved around SYF training, I have to admit I felt left out. Then Laoshi started Long Nu. I threw myelf into it, hoping to ignite the passion in me. Sad to say, it didn't do much to help. When SYF came around and laoshi asked me to help, I won't deny that I agreed to it because I wanted CCA points. It was a selfish thing. But working behind the scenes has taught me much, more than I imagined. Firstly, it was no slacker's job as I had thought and secondly, I had to conceal my feelings of being left out. Yet on SYF day itelf, as I went around helping with e makeup and encouraging people, I actually enjoyed it. I felt a part of it. SYF was really good and sitting in the audience watching all of you dance brought tears to my eyes. Your movements seemed effortles, yet i knew the amount of hard work that had been put in. That day, as I watched you dance, the passion suddenly came back. I can't quite explain how. It just did. I suddenly felt as though I was dancing, there and then.

Thank you so much SYF dancers for setting that flame ablaze in me again. Such is the power of dance.

Last week's opening was a success. I'm sure everyone felt it. Sitting in the audience, I simply couldn't focus on the other performances. I was just bursting with anticipation for you to come on. When it was finally your turn, I clapped and whitled with the crowd. A the dance started. The feeling wasn't the same. Having watched the dance countless times, that day's dance was simply not comparable. Despite the few fumbles, everyone was truly dancing. For the first time, your dance carried me into another realm. I felt light a though I was dancing too. The passion burst forth so strongly and I saw the blossoms struggle and bloom through spring. It was not dancers I saw that night, it was spring on stage. As the snow came down, I started crying. It was so so beautiful I couldn't describe it. Those tears were not tears of joy for e success of the dance. Those were tears brought about by the enchantment of the dance. I cried because it was so beautiful. The movements might not have been as good as SYF but your dancing expressed so much that brought me to tears. Great job everyone. Thank you for setting my heart ablaze with a passion for dance.

Dance was so good today. I might not have been in NYCD for long, but I've come to feel as though the studio is my second home. The farewell was so sad. I just couldn't control my tears. I was so moved , so touched by e juniors. They did so much. As I read my notes just now, I couldn't help but cry again. Thnx. Those were so sweet. I'll miss evryone and I'll come back I promise. As a Sec 4, all i can say is dance with youur heart and treasure your time. Dance like there's no tomorrow. I love all of you and thank you so much for making me feel like I belong.

I am honoured and proud to be a menber of NYCD!!

I might not know all of you very well, but nevertheless I'd like to thank all of you for makin these months in NYCD so great for me. Esp to XinYing, KaiShi, Lynn and YanYin. I love u guys. As we embark on this new chapter in our lives, let us continue to savour these scintillating memories. I'd like to wish everyone all e best for the upcoming O's and may you be blessed in all your future endeavours.

just wanna say you girls danced really well on the opening night. its simply uncomparable really. i thought the scgs dance was quite 'WOW' cos everyone went on pointe, but you girls are the BOMB! really, there are no other words to explain how magical and marvellous you ppl look on stage.

the whole ny bunch was sitting up at circle three, screaming our lungs out!! i think the entire esplanade must have been surprised by it actually cos come to think of it, we were REALLY quite loud. haha.

but it's ok we can and we will do it :)

we worked so hard and it all comes down to tmr! really been very touched seeing everyone work so hard together. 2-10pm after 5 days of consecutive dance not an easy feat! *pat on back* rmber how lan we were a few mths back, and where we are today, and feel proouudd of ourselves :)

thankew seniors n tchrs for coming down to support us so often. veryveryveryveryvery touched. (esp when they're like NJ dance ppl at kallang, but kexin n sheryl still happily follow us muahahaha. j/k :P) and when everyone was watching us dance in the quadrangle and applauded and cheered for us. we have a whole group of people behind us cheering us on and it really is a very comforting and touching thought

and of course the amazing lao shi. she gave her all for us, and shes so .. ah duno how to say. *respect*x10000000000

tmr isn't a mere competition. not dancing for the judges, or dancing to win.. but dancing for ourselves, laoshi and whoever may be sitting in the audience. must quan2 qing2 tou2 ru4 and THROW out all our emotions tmr. give it our all and woooooow everyone :)

MY FIRST DANCE BLOG ENTRY. ooosh. took me err. 1 or 2 years for me to find the userid/password eh? (prob cause i didn't exactly ask)

anyway. don't know what to say actually. just JIA YOU for our syf. april 17th! we should put a countdown somewhere on this page.

errm just give everyone some xin1 li3 zhun3 bei4. i think some or all of us MAY (i'm just guessing) have to stay back aft CNY celebrations for practice so grumble all you want now, but if we really have to do so, please don't pon or anth. as we said, sacrifices will have to be made. it's for the greater good ya? =)

hi babes~ heard from some reliable sources that you guys are practising hard =) jia you!

of course, not only must you all work hard, you all also must take care of lao shi ok? I can tell that she's really stressed about this year's SYF (as always) so remember to make her smile often too =} I know this is something you all are capable of :D
